Nikola Jokić shines in preseason win over Lakers
The Denver Nuggets defeated the Los Angeles Lakers 121-106 in a preseason exhibition. The victory does not affect the team’s official record, but it provided a showcase for the Serbian star’s efficiency on the floor.
Jokić logged 31 minutes and produced 17 points on 7-of-8 shooting, including 3-of-4 from three-point range. He added eight assists, six defensive rebounds, two steals and committed six turnovers and two personal fouls. While he was on the court, Denver outscored the Lakers by nine points.
Compared with his last season’s averages, Jokić’s minutes were slightly lower than the 34.8 he logged on average, and his point total was below his 27.7 points per game average. His rebound and assist totals were also beneath his previous season’s 12.9 rebounds and 10.7 assists per game. However, his shooting efficiency was markedly higher; an 87.5 % field-goal rate and 75 % from three-point range exceed his 56.9 % and 38.0 % shooting percentages from the 2025-26 regular season.
